Coach Trent Johnson Pulls L.S.U. Together

I had no remembrance of LSU’s men’s basketball team. That is no memory of their existence in relation to anything sports and you’re talking to an ‘offensively fanatical fan’ of sports. I watch everything but wrestling and sumo wrestling. ESPN comes on at 5am and goes off at 7pm … daily. I watch sports on the weekend. I once spent 3 days crying in the corner of my bedroom because Boston College beat Notre Shame in the last 3 seconds with a field goal, destroying their chances for a national championship. No memory.

I became aware when ESPN analysts were upset their former coach was fired mid-season, but praised the selection of Trent Johnson.
Today I smile. Johnson came from Nevada and what he’s done at LSU is putting the men back on par with the women’s bball program. It’s bad arse. Enough to get him a write-up in the NY Times.

The article just added to my smile, because for the first time since 1953, yes, that’s 55 years, the University of Washington’s men’s basketball team are Pac 10 champions. Normally don’t care about the Pac 10 outside of UCLA and USC. But UW’s coach is Lorenzo Romar and it’s time. It’s time.

Hopefully LSU will get an NIT bid. UW will go into March Madness and at least into the Sweet 16. Maybe Elite 8 depending on the draw. Further than that, against the Big East, North Carolina, or Memphis … sorry I don’t recognize Kansas and Oklahoma (LOL) … then hmmm. But today, I’m smiling. Big ole grin on the face.
