I Got to Shout!!

Lord Jesus, some days you just gotta shout – Thank you, Jesus.  THANK YOU!

For the blessings you give.  For the blessings I forgot.  For the blessings to come.  For blessing me now.

I got to shout!

Despite my  “imbecilic know I don’t deserve it but thank God for mercy” butt.

I got to shout!

The world gets crazy, takes you with it.

You get so wrapped up and caught up in the “I know you didn’t ask me to’s” and “No you didn’ts”.  Your brain is squeezed to the cusp of a coma.

And you go along for the ride.

I got to shout!

You think about the things done to you, about you, and not for you – you get pissed.  And the more you think, the more pissed you get.  And the more pissed you get, then more you plot – How to get them back.  Why you should get them back.  Cuz of course you’re in the right.

And before you know it your mind creates scenarios worthy of FBI surveillance.  Your chest gets tight.  You breathe hard.  You’re going down for the count.  Willing to be the only one who gets up.

I got to shout!

Music has saved my stupid mouth and more stupid butt more times than one should count.

Isn’t it a miracle (was going to say amazing but knew that wasn’t right) how you’re moving along, not looking left or right, caught up in the … whatever, and a song comes on and …

I got to shout!

Music is truly the universal language.

Thank you for that blessing.

It moves you on a roller coaster of emotions.

Takes you from A to Z, helps you linger on B, C, & D.  Takes you high, keeps you low, in, out, and in new directions.

We can’t learn our ABC’s but Lord knows we remember the words to songs not heard for thirty odd years.

Where we were and whom we were with.  What we were doing and why we shouldn’t have.  Every step we took, from the drop of the beat through the chorus and refrain.

You got to holler!

Music inspires us.  Advises us.

Cleanses, heals.

Makes us cry.  Makes us laugh.  Despair and repair.

Makes an ugly man look good and a fine man better.  Goes for women too.

Whether in country, jazz, blues, r&b.  Gospel, classical, new age, or any age.  Music …

Lord Jesus, you got to holler.

I believe I can fly,

I believe I can touch the sky.

Think about it every night and day.

Spread my wings and fly away.

I believe I can soar.

See me walking through that open door.

I believe I can fly.

I believe I can fly.

I believe I can fly. 1

… and you do.  Despite the doubts, the naysayers, and the nuts, you believe, no you know, that you can fly.  Even if for a moment.  You know.  You believe.

What has been accomplished by how many people who heard they could fly?

I’m testifying up in here.

Now what if I choose.

The wrong thing to do.

I’m so afraid, afraid of disappointing you.

So I need to talk to you.

Ask you for some guidance.

Especially today, when my mind seems so cloudy.

Guide me until I’m sure.

I open up my heart. 2

… or

Agony of being alone.

Fear of doing things on my own.

Test and trials Lord you said come to make me strong.

The feelings of guilt, hurt, shame and defeat.

The way of trials Lord that beat up on me.

(this is the shouting part)

But to know Jesus that in you I got victory.

I need you now.

I need you.

I need you.

I need you.

I need you.

I need you now.

Not another second or another minute.

Not an hour of another day.

Lord, Lord, I need you … on my job.

I need you … in my home.

I need you … for my wife and my baby.

I need you … I’m not ashamed to say.

I need you … I need you.

I need you right away. 3

… you sang when you couldn’t find your words.   And your burdens were relieved cuz Yolanda and Smokie showed us how.

Shouting real well now.

When you’re at the end of that rope or been double dutching too long, music … Lord music.

Got a broken heart and your friends are tired of hearing about it.

Music.

Got that much needed and deserved raise (it’s about time).  Feel the need to celebrate.

Music.

Said something stupid you can’t take back.  No $$ for Hallmark.

Music.

Your body is broken and torn.  Weary to the core.

Music.

Newborn baby bringing joy to the world.

Music.

Bumping down the freeway with the sound cranked up, the windows down, and not a cop in sight.

Music.

Getting some bling bling from the bling blang with a bang bang.

Music.

Sometimes the beat, sometimes the words.

Music.

Just because …

Music.

Makes you want to holler, doesn’t it!

Music.

What are you listening to right now?

Music.

Got to shout.  Got to holler.  Got to shout.

Music.

Yes, it’s Music.
