Before all my Jewish friends get pissed they’ve been dissed, keep reading. It was this article – Pope Concedes ‘Mistakes’ in Bishop Controversy. The new Pope apologizes for trying to lift the excommunication of the Holocaust denying Bishop Richard Williamson saying, “it could have been avoided with a simple Internet search.” Something everyone else knew how to do, and did which is how the crap hit the fan in the first place. And that made me think of Obama.
Richardson withdrew because as more of his ‘pay or play’ investigation was reported in the media, reportedly Obama wasn’t sure Richardson could get a clean bill of health by the FBI in time for confirmation. Obama said media info was new. Richardson said it was reported previously in Albuquerque Journal.
Daschle withdrew because he failed to pay taxes on his driver. He also had questionable lobby income from health sources he would oversee as HHS Sect. Killefer withdrew because she had not paid taxes on her household help.
I’m sorry, both the Pope and Obama could have avoided their situations with the minimal of minimum effort. I mean come on Pope. No Google. At the Vatican? Have you seen that place? They’ve got helicopter pads. Security to the yea hoo. Gold plated gold. And no frigging google!!! NOT BUYING IT. So not accepting the apology.
And you Obama. Here’s a clue I’ve learned from watching D.C. politics – You always, ALWAYS ask anyone going into government service, 1. Do you have a driver service?, 2. Do you employ household help?, 3. Can you provide for you, your partner/spouse, your mama, your daddy, your brothers & sisters, your baby’s daddy, your ex-boyfriend or girlfriend, the last 10 people you slept with, the people who have pictures of you that will be sold to the tabloids, for the last 5 years a list the name of every company, organization, group, church, etc. that you received money, a gift, honorarium, placque, anything of value or nonvalue? HELLO!!
Now that’s called vetting, and nobody would have needed to withdraw after going through that. Not giving Obama a pass either.
No excuse for stupidity. I don’t care what country or religion you run. You want to hold me to high standards, then you need to show up to. Then apologies aren’t needed.
